Episode 012 - Aperitifs and Digestifs

Hello everyone! Here's the 12th Behind the Bar Show for you. In case you haven't noticed, the titles of each of these blogs are actually links to the mp3 files in case you do not have iTunes or any other type of RSS reader. We go through quite a few aperitif recipes this week. Yes, we repeated the Americano and the Negroni. Here they are:

Americano
1 1/2 oz Campari
1 1/2 oz Sweet vermouth
4 oz Club Soda
Pour into a highball glass filled 3 quarters with ice. Stir lightly and garnish with a lemon twist.

Negroni
1 oz Campari
1 oz Gin
1 oz Sweet vermouth
Pour into an old fashioned glass filled 3 quarters with ice. Stir well and garnish with a lemon twist.

Apple Rouge
1 1/2 Dubonnet Rouge
1 oz Applejack
Pour into a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Chelsea
1 oz Dry vermouth
3/4 oz Bourbon
1 tsp Blackberry brandy
splash Cointreau
2 tsp lemon juice
Shake well with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

Diplomat
2 oz Dry vermouth
1/2 oz Sweet vermouth
splash Maraschino liqueur
1 dash orange bitters (can substitute with angostura bitters)
Stir well in a mixing glass filled with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry.

Lillet Cocktail
2 oz Lillet
1/2 oz Gin
Stir well in a mixing glass filled with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry.

Mayflower Cocktail
1 1/2 oz Sweet vermouth
1/2 oz Dry vermouth
1/2 oz Brandy
1 tsp Pernod
1 tsp Cointreau
2 dashes orange bitters (can substitute angostura bitters)
Mix all ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Trinity Cocktail
1 oz Sweet vermouth
1 oz Dry vermouth
1 oz Gin
Stir well in a mixing glass filled with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

You're not the first person to say it sounded like I said "topless restaurant." I guess I need to be more succint when I say tapas. :)
